Disability Awareness Presentation – February 20

Wednesday, February 14th, 2018

The Department of Teacher Education and Human Services welcomes Angie Goodnight, Information and Community Outreach Coordinator for The Ability Center, from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, February 20 as part of the Education Forum Series. Goodnight will speak about disability awareness in AVCC 125-128. All are welcome to attend this free event.

Having acquired her disability later in life, losing her sight in her early thirties, Goodnight provides a unique perspective about living and working with a disability in the community.

Working at The Ability Center since 2007, she wears many hats. The hat she enjoys wearing most is that of “Speaker.” She loves sharing some of her journey in an effort to educate the community about people with disabilities.

Through her story and sense of humor, Goodnight encourages the audience to consider some of the issues faced by people with disabilities, while outlining many of the ways The Ability Center assists individuals with disabilities to remain independent and active in their community.
