Terhune Gallery to Exhibit Basquiat, Peer Artwork

Thursday, December 20th, 2018

The Terhune Gallery will feature the noteworthy group exhibition, “Zeitgeist: The Art Scene of Teenage Basquiat,” in collaboration with Contemporary Art Toledo during Spring Semester 2019.

Mark your calendars for the opening Friday, January 25 in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, where the Terhune Gallery will exhibit one of the most significant artists in its history in the neo-expressionist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988).

Zeitgeist focuses on the artists and scene around Basquiat’s teenage, pre-fame years in New York and complements Sara Driver’s 2018 theatrical documentary, “Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat”.

Watch for more information about this exciting event.

Updated Employee Performance Appraisal Process (Additional Training Sessions)

Tuesday, December 18th, 2018

A new Employee Performance Appraisal form and process is now available to all employee supervisors (however, Teaching Faculty and Childcare Teachers will continue to be evaluated with the same form as previously used.) The new form is located on the Owens intranet at:

The new performance appraisal form is simpler in design, with only four questions to be completed. A fifth question provides an opportunity for the employee to respond to the performance appraisal. The new design is also open-ended allowing the supervisor and employee an opportunity to discuss and appraise all pertinent aspects of the employee’s work performance.

Non-bargaining employees’ performance appraisals must be submitted twice a year in January and July. (Forbargaining unit employees please reference the applicable collective bargaining agreements for performance appraisal/evaluation frequency and due dates).

In addition, to the New Employee Performance Appraisal form an Employee Self-Evaluation form is also available for the supervisor to use. Prior to the employee’s performance appraisal meeting, the supervisors may ask the employee to complete the Employee Self-Evaluation Form.

Human Resources has scheduled open sessions to discuss the new performance appraisal procedures and to answer any questions.  Please plan to attend one of the sessions.

2019 Annual Giving Campaign – Employee Appeal

Tuesday, December 18th, 2018

Did you know that the Owens Foundation was able to give back to the College over $331,600 in program support and scholarship awards for fiscal year 2018?  Because of the generosity of our employees and external donors, the Foundation continues its efforts to remove barriers and provide affordable education to students who strive for a better future.

We invite you to participate in the 2019 Annual Giving Campaign through the employee appeal.  Each gift, no matter how large or small, will make a big difference in our efforts to support students and the College.

Did you hear about this year’s raffle drawing?  Employees who complete their payroll deduction forms or make a one-time donation by Friday, January 18 are entered into the drawing to win great prizes that have been donated including, gift cards, gas cards, tickets to area attractions like the Schedel Arboretum & Gardens, tickets to the Walleye & Mud Hens, and more!

How do I participate and make a gift? The most convenient way to make a gift is through payroll deduction. Simply fill out the Employee Payroll Deduction form online and click submit. You may also make either a one-time gift or set-up recurring monthly payments with a credit card online at  Please call the Foundation Office at (567) 661-7603 with any questions.

May I direct my gift to a specific scholarship or support fund? Yes! While the greatest area of need is The Owens Fund, donors may choose to direct their gifts to more than 150 scholarships and support funds within the Foundation.

All employees who participate in the 2019 Annual Giving Campaign will receive a small token of appreciation and will be invited to the Employee Donor Recognition event in the Fall semester.

Please join your fellow employees and consider participating today!
