A High Percentage of Owens Students Report Mental Health Struggles

KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE COLLEGE FROM INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH: Last fall, 722 Owens students participated in The Healthy Minds Study, a national survey of mental health and related issues in college student populations. Our students report high levels of depression and anxiety. The good news is that many students are seeking help and that there are excellent resources on campus for them.

Things you can do to help:

  1. Highlight campus resources in class, on the syllabus or on BlackBoard. These can be found on the 2nd page of the Distressed Persons Guide for Toledo and DLC and the Distressed Persons Guide for Findlay.
  2. Invite representatives from various campus resource offices go give presentations in class.
  3. If a student appears to be struggling, ask them if everything is OK and then let them know about campus resources.
