New Employment Outcome Data Now Available on Owens Graduates by Major

KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE COLLEGE FROM INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH:

Owens Community College recently partnered with Ohio Job and Family Services to obtain one-, five-, and ten-year employment outcome data on our graduates who are working within the State of Ohio. Students earn average annual salaries of $42,749, $52,401 and $60,497 one-, five-, and ten-years following graduation, respectively. Employment rates, salaries, and industries by major along with data limitations can be found on the Labor & Economic page of the Institutional Research intranet site at Owens Employment Outcomes by Program.

University of Toledo Football Tickets Winners

Congratulations to James Eaton, Department of Public Safety (Findlay), and Kimberly Helton, Information Technology Services, for winning tickets to the University of Toledo football game Saturday, September 14 at the Glass Bowl. A total of 55 employees entered the contest.

Faculty Attendance Reporting – Report by September 17, 2019

Fall 2019 attendance verification has begun.  For all classes that have started, please report attendance for your students by September 17, 2019.

We will begin using the attendance information to disburse financial aid funds to students on September 18, 2019.  Information that is not reported by September 17 may delay financial aid for students.  The Attendance Reporting Form will continue to be available after September 17 to report updates and to provide information for courses which start later in the semester.

Faculty Attendance Reporting Brochure

Step-by-step reporting instructions can be found in the Faculty Attendance Reporting brochure.  The brochure also contains the definition of “attendance” established by federal regulations.  In addition, the brochure explains how students are informed of the attendance information that has been reported.  The brochure can be accessed online from the Ozone Faculty tab by clicking the Attendance Verification Reporting link.  Brochures are also available in any of the Academic School Offices on the Toledo Campus and the Executive Director’s Office on the Findlay Campus.

Frequently-asked Questions

Why is a student not on my attendance roster? 

Some students will not be on the list because attendance information is not required for financial aid.  This includes College Credit Plus students, guest and transient students, and some students who register after the financial aid freeze date.

What can I do if I have to update information after September 17?

If a student begins attendance later, including students who add class late, you may have to make corrections.  For most courses, you can continue to make corrections online after September 17, 2019.

What does Oserve tell my students about attendance?

Oserve regularly receives requests from students regarding the attendance information that has been reported.  Oserve staff will NOT share information with a student regarding his/her attendance report until the reporting timeframe of September 10 through September 17 has passed.  After September 17, Oserve will share with the student that attendance has been reported as “Yes,” “No,” or “not reported.”

If the attendance information has not been reported, Oserve will advise the student that a reminder is sent to faculty and request that the student allow faculty time to respond.

If the attendance status was reported as “No” but the student states that he/she has attended, Oserve will suggest that the student contact his/her instructor to determine if he/she has met the attendance requirement for that class, and if so, to request that the faculty update attendance, allowing reasonable time for the faculty to do so.

Fireside Grill New Menu Items

Fireside Grill has added hot bowls to the menu this year. The bowls change weekly with a different theme each month. September is Americana and the week of September 9 features a chicken and biscuits bowl. Upcoming weeks will feature beef and noodles, a mac’ n cheese chicken bowl, and coming in October: Asian bowls!

Did you know that the Fireside Grill now serves breakfast? From 7:30 – 10 a.m. you can come in and enjoy a variety of breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and now fresh waffles!

The Fireside Grill is open from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, excluding College holidays and break periods.

Requisition and/or Travel Reimbursement Training – September 17

Monday, September 9th, 2019

The Controller’s Office will be holding a training session on the Toledo-area Campus regarding entering and approving requisitions and POs in Banner 9 as well as Banner Self-Service. Also, we will go over how to fill out a travel reimbursement form. Any employees who want to learn more about these is welcome to attend. The training session will be held in CH 209 on September 17 from 9 – 10:30 a.m.
